Mighty Minis is an ‘ultra-early’ intervention developmental therapy service for infants and families around a neonatal stay or when a baby has additional developmental concerns. It is led by Clinical Specialist Neonatal and Paediatric Occupational Therapist, Amanda Clifford.
Babies born prematurely or those who have had medical complications or delays have different early developmental experiences and potentially different longer term challenges. A higher risk pregnancy, a neonatal stay and early parenting with these babies is a very different and unique journey from the mainstream.
You may be in a more complex pregnancy so your journey has started well before your baby was born. If you have been told your baby may need a neonatal stay, you might be unsure about what the neonatal stay could entail, and what you can do for your baby (so much by the way!!).
You may have spent days, weeks or months in a potentially stressful NICU hospital environment as your baby has grown and stabilised ready for home. You could feel joy and relief about going home whilst at the same time, be daunted about what comes next.
Now you are home and settled, you may feel your baby or you could do with some extra input to support their ongoing development and adjust to a new normal. Mainstream parenting information and baby groups may not seem to be as relevant or helpful.
Your baby may have a diagnosis or be experiencing some delays in meeting their expected milestones.
Mighty Minis acknowledges the impact of these early experiences on you and your baby’s unique developmental start. We are here to provide practical parenting and reliable developmental information, advice and support for you and your baby right from the very beginning in your pregnancy, along your unique NICU journey, settling into home and championing you in providing your baby with the best developmental start.
Mighty Minis can help in:
The before - education for families about premature baby development and how to navigate being your baby’s parent in the NICU space
The transition from hospital to home - support in nurturing your baby’s early rhythms of sleep, feeding and playing and your relationship with them.
The first years - providing reliable, professional advice and therapy services for your infant’s early sensory, motor, learning and social development
We have services that can help you navigate these times with confidence and we are so looking forward to meeting you.
